Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe that ten years has passed us by. This is Anna Brower and as you know my dad is being moved to two churches in Clearfield. We have been at Granville for ten years. So much has happened in those 10 years.  Some of the things I remember are Vacation Bible School. Kari Ann and all the helpers always went all out for Bible School. From the decorations to the snacks, everyone always had a good time. Another thing I remember is when my dad had to kiss the cow at Bible School. Something else I vividly remember is Charlie’s Sunday school class. He taught me everything I know about the Bible. He praised us when we did well and scolded us when we did bad things. I remember when the youth went to Confirmania with Dana. We were so bad at the scavenger hunt that they had to send out a search team to find us. Even though we lost Dana treated us to Best Way. We went all out! Back in March when I had my Haiti Benefit concert I remember thinking no one would come. I also remember thinking the concert would never work. But it did and it was because of the support that came from you guys. You kept telling me what I was doing was great and knowing that you guys thought that made me want to work even harder. You guys have always supported me. When I preached seeing people nod their heads in the congregation made me want to cry. Seeing the tears afterwards made me want to cry too. Your support never failed to help me through a time when I thought nothing would work out. Just remember to be open to whatever the new pastor brings to Granville. Be there for each other and bring each other closer to God. Don’t spend too much time on perfection or you will miss the beauty of watching God move in the church.

This is Mark Brower and as you know Anna is my daughter.  I am so proud of her. And it is in this pride that I find and realize how thankful I am for all of you at Granville. For it is because of all of you who have taught, mentored, cared for, loved, laughed with , laughed at, supported, looked after, corrected , and disciplined  Anna (and Chloe and Me) to make her what she (we) are today.  For all that you have done for my family and I THANK YOU SO MUCH.  There are no words that can describe your love and care for us.  The memories we take with us are countless and will stay with us forever.  It has been a privilege and an honor to be your pastor here at Granville.  We will always cherish your friendships. I would be remiss not to remind and to thank you for all the ministry you have done over the years at Granville. The good news is that we will always be doing ministry together. Just in different locations. If there is one thing I hope I have taught you as your pastor is that we serve God and his kingdom. If there is one sentence that I would like us always to remember is this: “It’s not about us/you.”  It’s not about you and it’s not about me. It’s all about Jesus.  You have allowed God to use you in so many different ways which has had an effect on the lives of so many people. You may not know or ever know the specifics or even who these people are but that does not really matter. If you have shared the love of Christ, used the grace that God has been given  you, then the words that God spoke to Jesus he also speaks to you,  “Well done my good and faithful servant.”  These are also my parting words to you. It has been a joy, not always easy or smooth; there have been tears and laughs, thank you for your love.

The Brower’s

Text Box: Letter from your sectary:

This month is a major transition for our congregation.  As many of you know, Pastor Mark has been assigned a new charge in Clearfield.
I have had the privilege of working with him as secretary.  I have learned a lot and have gotten to know him better.  And yes, at times he has made me feel frustrated.  Over all, he has brought many good things to the church.

As I understand his coming to Granville U.M. Church, it was so he and his family could heal.  I hope we were able to provide the support they needed in the healing process.  I don’t know much of their past, I’m from Hollidaysburg, only what he has told us in his sermons.  I believe everyone should be given a chance for change.  He has changed and for the good.  He has brought the Lord’s word to us for ten years.  He finally got the screen in and we have been able to sing hymns that are not found in the blue hymnals. Thank you goes to Nancy Collins for providing us with these hymns.   Pastor Mark has been a huge help with the auctions as well.  I’m sure he will be missed at the French fryer and grill; we might actually have extra fries and hot dogs.  I’m just kidding. He also has supported VBS and all youth activities.  The youth are the future of any and all churches.

He has touched many lives over the years and has made many close friends.  He has also lost many close friends due to deaths and people moving away.   I know Harry and I will miss his friendship.  If you needed a prayer he would stop wherever he was at the time of the call and pray.  I remember one time I called him to pray for a child from the school I worked at.  The child had a difficult home life and Children and Youth were called.  We had an emotional time at school that day and the child needed all the prayers he could get.  When I called Pastor Mark, he was in Wal-Mart.  I asked when he had time could he send a prayer up for this child.  He said let’s pray now together.  So, as I sat in my van and he stood in Wal-Mart, we prayed.  He may not have always been there when someone may have needed him, but we must remember he is serving many people and he is only human.

The church is losing a wonderful family.  Anna has grown into a giving and caring young lady.  Chloe has grown from the toddler hanging on dad’s leg during a sermon into a sweet young girl.  Sue has shown me to care about others regardless of their background.  We will miss you all.  You have so much to offer your new congregations.  We hope you allow yourselves to shine and continue to grow through Christ’s word and love.
  God Bless,
Lori Aultz

As some of who may know already, we have been sponsoring a child through World Vision with the pennies our children collect every second Sunday of the month.  We are sponsoring a little girl from Haiti named Savary Elischama. She was born on Sept. 28, 2001.  Her chores are to run errands and her favorite subject in school is reading.
-Elischama is a Hope Child Living in Haiti, a country recently devastated by a powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake. When you sponsor a child like Elschama, you help provide her with critical basics that will help her cope with disasters like the recent earthquake- essentials such as food, clean water, healthcare, education, safe shelter and more.  (This is the information we received from World Vision)
Our monthly sponsorship amount is only $35.

We recently received a letter from Savary written in Creole.  It was sent along with the translated letter as follows:

Dear Sponsor,
I am Savary Elischama.  A 8 years-old little girl.  I live with my father and mother.  I have a brother and a sister.  I’m in grade 3 and my favorite subject is grammar.  When I grow up, I would like to be a nurse.  In the break time, I like to skip rope with my friends.
In my village people grow, plantain, corn, and corn, ect.  Our typical plate are corn mill and beans.

May God bless you.

You see, the NAMES that we use -- indeed, our entire vocabulary -- is filled with pagan references of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, Germanic, and Roman gods and goddesses, since the vocabulary developed before Christianity came to England. But the CONTENT of Easter -- at least as true Christians practice it -- is a celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The old pagan celebrations of Easter arng, that "Easter" morning, 20 centuries ago.  (by Dr. Ralph F. Wilsmpbecause He lives, all fear is gone; because I know he holds the future and life is worth the living just because he lives.”
My prayer is for us always to remember His victory is our victory.
May you a blessed Easter Season.
